Get here early to avoid disappointment! Favourite with locals and tourists. Check their website / FB page for up to date information but definitely one to bear in mind if you're head towards Ullapool

“The Summer Queen operates out of Ullapool Harbour during the summer. We sail through Lochbroom, Annat Bay and the Summer Islands, taking in the Scoraig and Coigach peninsulas and some of the most beautiful scenery and wildlife in the world! We offer 4 hour morning cruises to the Summer Isles, landing on Tanera Mor (the last inhabited island in the group and home to the last independent Post Office in the UK!).In the afternoon we have a 2 hour cruise in Lochbroom and Annat Bay, that takes in either Isle Martin, or the inner Summer Isles, depending on weather and wildlife conditions/sightings.We encounter all types of wildlife from sea birds and Eagles to porpoise, dolphin and even whales. Sightings change from day to day but the views and scenery are always spectacular. We have a bar/saloon aboard offering snacks and drinks, toilets, and we have experienced crew who will share their knowledge and love of the area and wildlife encountered. Please note we do not sail if the weather turns poor, and do not currently sail on Sundays. Please contact us to discuss bookings - groups and family bookings welcome.”

“The Falls of Glomach are perhaps the most magnificent waterfalls in Britain, with a single leap of 113 metres (370 feet) The Falls of Glomach (Glomach means gloomy) are 375 feet high and as such are the highest falls in the country. However the walk up to the falls is spectacular and there is plenty to take in on the your journey. The falls are at the end of a 2.5 mile (approximate) moderate uphill walk from the car park at Dorusduain on the old A87. Most people of ordinary fitness take their time and allow around 5 hours for the round trip. The falls are best after rain however it should be noted that thick mist regularly hangs over the hills in these conditions, especially near the end of the track leading to the gully where the falls are and its very easy for the inexperienced to get lost if the mist comes down. Be careful and preferably go up with someone who has been before and knows the way. In the summer on good weather days the water may not be as spectacular but the views are great! There are Ranger guided walks with The National Trust of Scotland up to the falls in the summer months.”

“Hard not to spot, our local castle! A forty minute walk from the croft house bothy. Gift shop and cafe too. Also a very good takeaway called Heilan Scran. After hours you can walk around the island on which the castle sits, for free. Love doing this!”
