From Lua'awa you can park at the state beach and wade/swim to the island early or mid day. Goat Island is a shore bird preserve.

If there is a low tide you can walk to the island and explore it, or you can rent a kayak and paddle over. There is a white sand beach on the island and the rest is a rocky refuge for ground dwelling birds.

Located off of Hukilau Beach is this bird sanctuary island which you can swim/wade too. There are two beaches on the island which almost never have anyone there...but aware that nudists frequent it.
