The mumok (for: museum modern art stiftung ludwig) is one of the youngest museums in Vienna. It was opened in 2001. Parts of the collection were previously housed in other houses. Today the museum has more than 10,000 exhibits and is the largest museum in central Europe for art since the modern age. It also has a collection on Viennese Actionism, one of the most radical artistic movements of the 20th century, which is unique in the world. Its representatives, such as Günther Brus, Hermann Nitsch, Otto Mühl and Rudolf Schwarzkogler, sought direct confrontation with reality in their works.
