The Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (Tamar Valley AONB) is located on the Devon & Cornwall border. It is a special landscape that is defined and shaped by the rivers Tamar, Tavy and Lynher, and by the human activity focused around them. The area is famous for its mining heritage landscape and market gardening history, and is a haven for wildlife. A team of dedicated staff and volunteers run projects and coordinate work to conserve and enhance the natural beauty of the Tamar Valley.

So much to see in and around the Tamar Valley AONB. Beautiful woodland around Gunnislake, Calstock, Cotehele & Gulworthy. The River Tamar itself is perfect for kayaking, paddleboarding and swimming. Good launching spots from Morwellham, Calstock and Cotehele. Calstock has a great pub - The Tamar Inn, an ice cream shop, a cafe and a playground for kids. There is also a train station for links to Bere Alston and Plymouth. Across the river on the Devon side, Bere Alston and Bere Ferrers are pretty villages to visit.
