Kota Kinabalu City Mosque (Malay: Masjid Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu) is located at Jalan Pasir on the shores of Likas Bay. The mosque is partially surrounded by a human-made lagoon which is where the name of "The floating Mosque" comes from. The mosque is a popular tourist destination. The mosque can be visited by non-muslims, except during prayer hours. Visitors are required to wear modest clothing, long pants and long sleeves. Monday 8am-5pm Tuesday 12am-5pm Wednesday 12am-5pm Thursday 12am-5pm Friday 12am-5pm Saturday 8am-12.30pm Sunday CLOSED

From a distance, the Kota Kinabalu City Mosque seems to float on top of the water. Although the optical illusion is created by a man-made lagoon nestled around the mosque, the building’s reflection in the cool blue water gives the fantastic mosque an air of mystery and beauty.
