Big Pit National Coal Museum is open for five days per week – every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Museum will also be open on Bank Holiday Mondays To reduce any risks from COVID-19, they have had to change what they do, and currently the UNDERGROUND TOUR WILL REMAIN CLOSED. The Museum remains free to enter. However, they have had to reduce the number of people they can welcome on site at any one time. To manage this, all visitors entering the site will need to have booked a free ticket in advance. Sadly, if you don't book and present a valid ticket, you’ll be turned away.
