Moreira da Costa is one of the oldest and most valuable bookstores in the city, with several first editions by Portuguese authors, the work behind Camilo Castelo Branco, several books on Law, Philosophy and Theology, and two thousand titles of literature French from the 18th and 14th centuries. Altogether, there are 50 thousand books - and it is an experience to go down to the basement (closed to the public), a kind of fort made of books up to the ceiling, where absolute silence reigns.
