Set in a bush behind the beach, near Bendalong. The monument remembers the lives lost when the ship ‘Walter Hood’ sank in 1870.
An easy walk from North Bendalong to the Monument of the Walter Hood where it sunk in 1870. Still to this day you can sometimes find old tiles (which the boat was carrying) washed up on the beach. For the brave souls take a walk up there in the dark as the locals say you can sometimes hear the ghost of the captains dead dog howling at the moon.
