For a coffee, light breakfast and a good ambiance for working I enjoy Mariposa Café (424 Massachusetts Avenue Cambridge MA, 02139) about a 15 min walk.

My favorite coffee shop in the area. Their bread is GREAT and I also love their scones. Free wifi!

This bakery makes amazing sandwiches on their house-based bread. The pretzel bread is great - so are the scones. Great place to grab breakfast before exploring Central or Kendall squares.

A comfy spot on the way to MIT. love looking out the big glass windows of this beautiful turn of the century brick building. Its a place where you can sit and work for a while. Fresh baked goods, egg & cheese sandwich, quiche!

Excellent coffee and tea drinks. Healthy and unique sandwiches that are worth the wait. A nice quiet cafe to get some reading or work done.
