“amazing in the summer as a base to explore mountainous tracks on a bike or simply pick a peak and challenge yourself to walk up to the summit and enjoy the views if your fortunate enough to be there for a days skiing I would recomend not getting the ski equipment from the slopes as the ques can take up too much valuable time. there are a few alternative places along the road approaching the cairngorm mountain”

“An excellent place for lunch or coffee and cakes. We try to visit when we are in Aviemore. Get there early if you want lunch though. They do not take bookings and it can get busy, especially in peak holiday times.”

“If you are keen to spend some of your time further afield in the mountains then a guided trip to the reindeers up on the Cairngorms is a joy. You will join a party of walkers and a guide or two with enough lichen and food to entice the reindeer and spend some precious time in their company. Pleasant walk, great views, great animals. For those less able or with less time the Reindeer Centre at Glenmore has an enclosure to see some up close and learn a little more about reindeers and their time in Scotland. ”

“Lochindorb (from the Scottish Gaelic: Loch nan Doirb meaning "loch of the minnows") is a freshwater loch north of Grantown on Spey in the Highland council area of Scotland. On the island are the ruins of Lochindorb Castle, a former stronghold of the Clan Comyn and is built on what now is said to be an artificially created island. It is also a popular spot with fishers and birdwatchers, the latter of whom come to see the local black-throated divers and greylag geese. At the southeast edge of the loch there is a small patch of coniferous forest. The "Wolf's Lair": Lochindorb Castle at Lochindorb in Badenoch, stronghold of Alexander Stewart, Earl of Buchan. Lochindorb is home to an array of wildlife and is a popular fishing and birdwatching spot. The loch was traditionally a game loch with a large native brown trout population however there has been a dramatic decrease in numbers. Pike have been recorded in the loch for over 20 years and were illegally stocked. Pike have been used as an excuse for the demise of the trout, however anglers have been removing large numbers of trout due to no bag limit or permit system being in place.”
