6 mins from the cottage, Spynie Forest has extensive woodland walks beloved by dogs and people alike. In fact it is such a favourite place for dogs that many of their owners have chosen to bury their pets at the informal pets cemetery near the start of the walking trails.

Spynie Palace, also known as Spynie Castle, was a fortified seat of the Bishops of Moray for about 500 years in Spynie. The founding of the palace dates back to the 12th Centaury.
