Abacus restaurant is a great choice for a casual and enjoyable dining experience during a stay in South Yarra. Located in a bustling area of the city, the restaurant offers a serene and stylish atmosphere that brings the outdoors in. The restaurant is known for its all-day dining model, with a breakfast menu that transforms into snacks and evening dining options, making it a great choice for any mood or customer. In addition to the delicious food, Abacus also boasts a fully licensed drinks list and al fresco seating, making it a great spot for an afternoon aperol spritz while people watching on one of Melbourne's busiest strips. The customer service at Abacus is elevated, and the restaurant is deeply rooted in sustainability and design-driven aesthetics. Some standout items on the menu at Abacus include the stone ground sourdough with cultured butter, the miso glazed eggplant with crisp tofu and BBQ gai lan, and the charcoal-grilled southern calamari with house kimchi and kipfler. For main dishes, the Geelong lamb rump with summer pea and nasturtium puree and the Grampians beef cheek with creamed sebago, black garlic, and parsley are excellent choices. In addition to the main dishes, Abacus also offers a range of sides, including roast hasselback potatoes with sour cream and Yarra Valley caviar, wild leaf and herb salad with blood orange, and shoe-string fries with house-made chicken and chilli salt. For dessert, the hunted & gathered chocolate marquise with drunken sponge and smoked caramel ice cream and the slow-roasted pineapple with coconut mousse and passionfruit are both highly recommended.
