Fantastic little area of lava flow that occurred between 1500-5000 years ago. Great stop if you plan to drive to Carrizozo. Best to visit early in day in the summer as there is virtually no shade!

Most beautiful, miles and miles of black lava rock formations from Sierra Blanca, now an inactive volcano.
