7.2 miles from house. About 1.5 mile hike to the location. Beautiful clean clear water. Plenty of areas to set up for the day. If you’re looking specifically to go to Hoyts Crossing, be warned that there are A LOT of naked men. Not in a gross way, everyone was respectful, but something to be aware of.

The beauty of the Yuba River is what brought me to this area. Massive white boulders and tons of beautiful swimming holes make this a great adventure if you are up for a bit of a hike/climb. Be aware swimming is genererally only safe July through until the rainy season. Fast currents and cold temperatures from the snow melt make the river beautiful for admiring but dangerous for swimming. Hoyt’s beach is one if the few legal nudists beaches in the country. If that's not your thing there are plenty of other clothin required options, just be sure to stay up stream :)

Another great spot to explore the South Fork of the Yuba River! It's fun right under the bridge if you want company but there are lots more great spots if you cross the bridge and follow the trail along the river.

The most popular spot for swimming on the Yuba River, about 8 miles north of Nevada City on Hwy. 49.

Lovely swimming areas around and under bridge. Also the entry point to a 20 minute hike to more secluded swimming spots (my favorite included) along the Yuba River.
