This is our favourite beach, perfect when the tide is out as you walk through the pine forest to the beautiful beach. Perfect for children who love to jump off the dunes, play games and long walks. Perfect walk from Holkham to Wells-next-the-sea.

Walk to the beach from here. The final scene in 'Shakespeare in Love'. Vast sandy beach, sand dunes with pine forests. One of the best beaches anywhere. Walk just a little and find peace and quiet. Off season you will often be alone. Good access to hides for spotting birds. Watch out for geese whiffling as they come in to the marshes. Adnams wine and kitchen shop and The Victoria Inn are just by the drive and worth a visit.

The beach at Holkham is one of our favourites anywhere… it is know as the 'Shakespeare in Love' beach as this is where the closing scene in the film was shot - it's breathtaking. There's also a nice walk from Wells-next-the-Sea, along the beach, past the famous beach huts to the car park and a woodland walk back on a return to Wells. We usually end up buying fish and chips as a reward for the walk.

The beach at Holkham is one of the most unspoilt and beautiful stretches of sand in the country. The actress Gwyneth Paltrow walked across Holkham sand at low tide during the closing scenes of the film ‘Shakespeare in Love’. Behind the shoreline lies a semi-circular basin, which, at very high tides, rapidly fills to form a spectacular shallow lagoon. Holkham Beach is also part of one of the largest National Nature Reserves in the country. It is managed by Natural England in partnership with the Holkham Estate and is home to many rare species of flora and fauna.
