The T.A. Ranch is where the infamous Johnson County Cattle War culminated on April 9, 1892. Fifty-two armed men carrying a hit list of 70 residents under the direction of Frank Canton had plans to clean out the settlers, burning the Court House and killing the County Commissioners. They were stopped at the TA Ranch were the homesteaders took up arms and met them. A three day battle ensued and bullet holes in the barns are visible today. . Many books are available on the subject and are available at the Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum.
