Food scene
So, at the top of the hill, about 5 mins in the car, there is a vineyard and orchid making award winning wine and cider. If you are after local, then it doesn't get more local than this. If you are not after local then... clearly you don't watch enough Materchef :)
They have a shop and they also do tastings and tours. Defiantly worth a trip if this is your cup of tea... or glass of wine... sorry about the bad jokes...

There are two amazing fish mongers on the stand, Stephenson W & Sons and this one. Choose either for amazing fresh fish caught on the day, it doesn’t get better!!!

This place is great if you want a properly good coffee and pastries in the morning, a great menu for lunch and beautiful wine selection to sit out in a long summers evening. You can also buy an amazing bottle of wine to take home... maybe with some freshly caught fish!! I love Newlyn!!

This pub is great, it serves fantastic food and a good pint. We sat outside in the sun with oysters, beers and ice cream for the kids (and me) and couldn’t recommend it more highly.

Newlyn is such a fantastic place to eat and drink!!! once you have collected your fresh fish and amazing wine, grab some cheese and charcuterie from this amazing little shop and head up to the house for the meal of a lifetime.

Right, if you head to the bottom of the garden, and please be very carful on the steps! and out the gate (the code is in your pack) you can walk down a lovely little path through the wood to a busy road going into Newlyn. On your right you will find this place, it flogs amazing shellfish, you will not be able to get fresher than this, and it is about three minutes walk from your front door (a nice walk as well ;). Check the opening times as its not open on the weekends.
Also, you can have baskets of crab and lobster and other amazing seafood delivered to the front door, to save you the huge trip ;) so if you want to treat yourself and give them a call and arrange a delivery for when you arrive.

It can get busy so be prepared for that, but that is the problem with nice places... people want to go in them!... needless to say, it is just at the bottom of the hill and serves great fish :)

People come from all over Cornwall to visit the Newlyn Filmhouse for the it great films and relaxing bar... and its in a fantastic place... check out the website where you can find what films are on, its more than your average blockbusters, although you can get them as well!

The Strand is a shop that sells loads of interesting stuff, an 'Aladdin's Cave' type affair which you can walk around and rummage for good bits. Great for kids and adults, perfect holiday shop.

The thing about Cornwall, as I am sure you know, is that it has loads of incredible beaches, so it is very hard to pick out the best ones. It will totally depend on what you like in a beach and how mobile your party are... or how long you have... what your mood is that day...
In fact, why even have a favourite, just pick the one that fits the bill on the day.
I can also say that if you google beaches in this area you will get a better description than I can give here. There will not be a bad one, that I can guarantee!
Gwynver Beach is stunningly beautiful but a bit tricky to get to so check it out on line before you decide to go. We have two small kids so at this point on our lives would avoid it, but if we didn't we would be here all the time!

Porthcurno is a sandy beautiful beach 20mins from the house. Great for families and kids, just a very lovey place to be.
It is right next to Minack Theatre, so a great day out for everyone... ice creams near the car park, what more can you ask!

You have to go here. It is Art Deco, so looks cool, it is geothermally heated (look it up), which is very cool... or warm... its got a nice cafe... sounds cool... and is just a unique and fun place to go if you don't fancy the beach.

City/town information
Whilst being one of the prettiest fishing villages in Cornwall, Mousehole is not renowned for it's beaches. However, there are two beaches there - a pebbly beach with a small pool in front of the Old Coastguard Hotel and a small sandy beach in the harbour. Dogs are banned from Mousehole beach all year round.
