A popular pilgrimage site for those of the Hindu faith, it was built to symbolise and honour the deity Kamakhya.The Kamakhya Temple also known as Kamrup-Kamakhya temple, Kamakhya Devalaya, is a Hindu temple dedicated to the mother goddess Kamakhya. It is one of the oldest of the 51 Shakti Pithas.

Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife sanctuary on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra in Morigaon district in Assam, India. It was declared in 1987 and covers 38.85 km², providing grassland and wetland habitat for the Indian rhinoceros. The Wildlife Sanctuary can be visited from Guwahati in a day long trip.
