16km west of Chora lies Paleopoli, the ancient city of Andros, which flourished from the classical to the late Roman era. In addition, in the wider area of Paleopoli, it is located the prehistoric settlement of Plaka, the geometric settlement of Zagora, as well as a fortified settlement of the Neolithic period (4500-3300 BC), where there have been discovered rock paintings depicting various animals, ships and linear figures.

Be sure to visit all the well-hidden treasures: Mesaria, a picturesque Mediterranean village and center of the island during the Byzantine era and the Castle of Faneromeni, the largest Medieval city in Andros, with its imposing castles, built in the 11th century at 600m altitude. Touring in the inland is a real revelation. The visitor encounters chestnut, walnut and plane trees, oaks, willows and mulberries, poplar, wickers and of course olive trees. Hikers will be also captivated by the stone paved trails, with the appropriate markings, that run through the meadows smelling of thyme, saffron and sage.

The beaches in Andros are a destination on their own! Some beaches in Andros are easily accessed by asphalt or dirt roads, but there are also some which require a 4x4 vehicle. Some others are only accessed on foot or by sea. From the high-society beaches (Batsi, Neiborio, Chrissi Ammos) to the famous (Achla, Tis Grias to Pidima). From those popular to younger ages with beach bars (Piso Gialia, Chalkolimionas, Agios Petros, Apothikes) to the secluded but dreamy blonde beaches of the North-East coast (Zorkos, Ateni, Vori).

Chora, the capital of the island, combines the Cycladic architectural tradition with neoclassical influences. The medieval, neoclassical and traditional houses, the sprawling stairs, the large square with many trees and the museums compose a fascinating ensemble. This magical scenery is complemented by the small island with the Frankish castle connected to the mainland with a stone bridge built in the 13th century.Andros could be a peakon of cultural tourism simply for its museums. The internationally renowned Contemporary Art Museum of Valili and Eliza’s Goulandri Foundation, in Chora, hosts every year unique painting and sculpture exhibitions. The Archeological Museums in Chora and Paleopoli capture the island’s diverse history during ancient times thanks to their rich collections
