This has always been a focal point for the arts in Christchurch. Recently restored after the 2011 earthquakes. Beautiful historic buildings.

This complex hosts the Christchurch i-site, eateries, shops and is located in a collection of buildings that originally hosted the University and Boys High. It is being restored, and is a great place to have a wander.

The Arts Centre has been a meeting place for Cantabrians for a very long time, It is part of the old University (where Rutherford split the atom). It is home to local artisans, theatre, markets, restaurants and cafes and often has outdoor concerts, movies etc.

“If you driving there, you can park in the botanic gardens for free, then walk the perimeter of the park. The paths are wide and suitable for prams, scooters and bikes. Great place to take the kids for a bike ride. Hagley park features the Christchurch Botanical Gardens, a café, an ice-cream shop, paddling pools (summer only), toilets, kids playground, information centre, the Avon river which you can kayak or punt on (via Antigua Boat Shed), a golf course, sports grounds, cricket oval and netball courts. Christchurch Hospital is located on the edge of the gardens, as is the museum, a lovely restaurant, The Curator's House. ”
