Lovely village with two excellent cafes offering lunch and wonderful cream teas. There are two pubs, the New Inn and the Rugglestone which both do good food and have pretty gardens. There is also a small shop selling supplies, a working forge and a National Trust shop attached to the church.
Most famous village in Dartmoor, due to the nursery rhyme “Uncle Tom Cobley” about Widecombe Fair. Picturesque. Interesting church. Lovely walks around, with spectacular views. Excellent cafe: Cafe on the Green. Good pub at Rugglestone nearby.
Widecombe-in-the-Moor, classic Dartmoor village, The Rugglestone Inn is the best pub around (very slightly out of the village) Cafe on the Green is great, NT shop and the Cathedral of The Moor
A must see on everyones thoughts when visiting Devon. A drive to the moor is popular to the locals on any free weekend throughout the year and is highly recommended.
