Housed in a former Nabisco box printing factory on the banks of the Hudson, the museum was designed with the help of artist Robert Irwin. Its collection of minimalist and land art includes exemplary works by Richard Serra, Walter de Maria, Louise Bourgeois, Gerhard Richter, and Donald Judd. Ask the gallery attendants—nicely!—to open the gate so you can walk right up to Heizer’s sculptures and see their scale. This works best on the weekends.

16.1 miles - So close and so amazing! Contemporary arts. Some pieces are on long term display but much of the space has changing exhibits. Check online to see whose work is being shown. After you spend hours roaming the museum hit up Quinn’s on Main st. for some ramen and a cocktail. Best way to finish a day at Dia in my opinion! 3 Beekman Street, Beacon NY 12508

A leading contemporary art museum that's well worth an excursion. The surrounding town of Beacon has plenty of small shops, restaurants and galleries as well.
