Rotary Way is a short route but one that showcases some of Hermanus' loveliest views. It is a partially tarred road and climbs 188 metres up the mountains and along their spine, promising gorgeous views of the Overberg. From the first lookout point, you will be able to take in the breath-taking views of Sandbaai, Vermont and Zwelihle, which make up the western parts of Hermanus. Travelling a little further along the road promises incredible vistas and photo opportunities of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Not only is this a beautifully verdant valley, but it is also home to the local wine route, which means that its lush vegetation is punctuated by row upon row of fertile vines. From here, head further along Rotary Way to get amazing views of the Klein River Valley, the lagoon, the golf course and, of course, the ocean. When the whales come to visit this part of the South African coastline every year, they can be seen lobtailing and spraying massive mists into the air as they explore these waters. Seeing the whales from these heights is, undoubtedly, one of the major highlights for those exploring Rotary Way.

Over look the entire Hermanus and Walker Bay from the mountain behind Hermanus. View the magnificence of this beautiful bay. You may even get lucky and spot some whales on a clear calm day during Whale season.

This short, tarred road leads up to the top of the mountain range at the beginning of Hermanus. To get there from Hermanus, travel out of Hermanus and towards Cape Town for about 2km. You will pass the Spar (Gateway Shopping Centre) on your left. Just after this turn right into Malva Road and follow the signs that say Rotary Way until your heading up the road. The final point is the parking lot at the end of the gravel road, which overlooks the ocean, the bay in which the whales can be found and Hermanus, giving the viewer an uninterrupted and stunning view of this pristine area.
