Also: The restaurant at the Gage Hotel in Marathon (about 50 minutes east of town) is something of a regional institution (and definitely one of the finest dining institutions in West Texas) and I highly recommend stopping in, perhaps, after visiting Alpine or maybe even on the way home from Big Bend National Park.

For a fancy date night, this is the best place to go. Take a drive east on Hwy 90.
