There's not much left of a plantation, but Antigua is dotted with hundreds of old sugar mills. We recommend reading Samuel Smith's historical novel, "To Shoot Hard Labor" - buy from Amazon

this is a sugar plantation site where one of the two sugar mill towers has been fully restored completely . which is small interpretation center and interpretation signage throughout the estate this heritage landmark is well worth a visit. Betty's Hope was one of the earliest sugar plantation, dating to 1651.
