Good interpretive centre and interpretive film. Cafeteria to warm up in if visiting on a cool day and washrooms. Very busy mid day.

A full day trip. Be sure to stop at the Athabasca Falls and Sunwapta Falls along the way. At the Icefields you can walk to the toe of the glacier, take a snow coach tour out onto the ice, book the skywalk tour and explore the interpretive centre.

We took the snow bus, it's called the Columbia Icefield Adventure, and went on the Athabasca Glacier. Very fun. It's very majestic at the top of the world, as there is one of two tri-continental divides in the world within sight. (The tri-continental divide is where the point where the rivers go to 3 different oceans.) You can ask where the other one is . . .

Historically interesting, breathtakingly beautiful, great hiking trails and tour buses that will take you right to the top of the glacier. You can also see photographs and other historical evidence indicating how much and how fast the ice fields are sadly melting away. Bring your camera. Two restaurants on site. Fabulously massive outdoor viewing deck at the visitors centre where you can take pictures and view the ice fields from across the highway.
