The line was opened on 18 May 1895 by Sam Wilson, a local publican, showman and entrepreneur. Lovely for a ride up to Baildon Moor. The children will love this!
The tramway is a Victorian curio - and an ideal way to climb the hill to the glen for those who prefer to ride rather than walk. Its now run by volunteers and open through the summer weekends and around Christmas. Its also the the start of the route up over the moors to Ikley - (from where its easy to get the train back again).
Ride the Shipley Glen tramway which will take you up to Baildon to enjoy a cooling, leafy view of the glen. Check online for opening times as this is a volunteer-run operation with a limited schedule.
