The Lakes Distillery is Cumbria’s only distillery producing the Lakes Gin, the Lakes Vodka, the ONE (a British Isles blended whisky) and what will become our signature spirit, the Lakes Malt (first bottle due in 2018). Opened in December 2014, The Lakes Distillery is housed in a beautiful restored Victorian cattle farm, with handmade copper stills and an award-winning on-site Bistro. As one of the ‘best new distilleries in the world’ (Time Out, New York), The Lakes Distillery offers a first class visitors centre with whisky tours & tutored tastings alongside a superb selection of hand-crafted spirits.

Climb to the summit of Skiddaw. There are numerous routes to the top, the most popular is from Keswick on the tourist path or for a more adventurous way to the top walk from The Lodge across the fields and ascend via Ullock Pike via Carlisle Tarn.

Derwent Pencil Museum, the home of the first pencil, and the Cumberland Pencil Company, manufacturers of Derwent pencil perfection since 1832. Enter the Museum through a replica of the Seathwaite mine where graphite was first discovered in the 1550's. Through words, pictures and carefully restored machinery you can trace the history of pencil making and see how we make Derwent Fine Art pencils today. A journey of pencil and graphite discovery. Art workshops, demonstrations, quizes, colouring in, Theres so much more to a pencil.
