Food Scene

They make old fashion traditional Newfoundland home made bread! Just like Nan use to make around the bay. I have lived in the St. John's area for 4 years and they honestly make the best bread. sooo good! A must ! Must be white bread

Drinks & Nightlife

Arguably, the best Irish Pub in Newfoundland. (Erins Pub and Shamrock city--the other two) O'reillys is located on iconic and famous George street. George street holds the title for most bars and pubs per sq ft in North America. Around 30 bars, clubs and pubs. Wild! Live music whenever they are open. Also has a rooftop patio. Check the website to see who is playing http://www.oreillyspub.com/calendar/. They also have live feed, so you can get a taste of Newfoundland where ever you roam. Say hello to Damian (Manager) the fella behind the main bar. He always enjoys a good chat about football(soccer) and Golf, but don't try to have a chat if his busy.

Arguably, the other best Irish-Newfoundland Pub. O'reillys. I find plays more traditional Irish songs. Shamrock, I found better for home grown Newfoundlandia. Arrive early if you want a table! They have 3 locations, but the downtown sin john's location is the one to see. Small venue. Arrive early ! Gets packed. Also, live music every day and night. Check the live music.http://shamrockcity.ca/

We can't forget Erin's Pub! Where would we be if Erin's didn't produce the likes of Shanneyganock and Great Big Sea for us. If you don't know who those bands are, you need to go back to NM100: Intro to Newfoundland Music. Erin's is homegrown, local local feel. Not your touristy spot. Not uncommon to see a bunch of musicians sitting around a table bleting out a tune or two. The owners are Chris Andrews (Shanneyganock) and Bob Hallett? (Great Big Sea. Where would we be without da b'ys (the boys) ? Probably all moved up along because we wouldn't have their music to make us home sick just thinking about the idea of moving. Erin is another name for Ireland. The old country.

George street holds the title for most bars and pubs per sq ft in North America. Around 30 bars, clubs and pubs. Its great. I mentioned a few I think that are more unique to Newfoundland. You don't come to Newfoundland for a dance club. Its all about the Irish, Traditional, Newfoundland music at the pubs. Also, many places to eat in and around there. Once your there, all the bars are a stone throw from each other.

Yellowbelly is a great restaurant with a brewery. It is one of my favorite spots. It is located in an old stone building on the corner of water street and George st. The building must be well over 100 years old. I recommend the chicken Caesar salad. You also must have a fresh pint of draught yellowbelly. The pub has five floors. My favourite is the basement which is a old stone cellar turned into a bar called the under belly.

Sightseeing

Good view and some great trails in along St. Johns harbor. To be honest, its the touristy thing to do. Doing it once is probably enough, but everyone and their dog has done it. If your looking for a local experience or a different experience then every other person who visits here, this is not it. It does have alot of historic significance, but I wont go into that here, just google it. That being said, it is an excellent stop at night in the party bus before heading dt (George street)

Parks & Nature

A beach and walking trails maintained by the city on a pond. A good place for swimming or going for a walk. Can get very busy on a warm day. 3 Min drive from the house. Oh and I think there is a couple pokestops and a gym there to if that's what your into.

Arts & Culture

Museum is not even the right word to describe the rooms. The word Museum sounds dull and boring. The Rooms is like the cultural and historic epicenter of Newfoundland and Labrador. I can't stress the importance of this place enough. If your looking for information on Newfoundland and Labrador, this is your best bet. It is quiet expansive and deep as is our long history and culture. The rooms is also remarkable because it is home to "The Archives". The Archives are largest bank of documents, artifacts, and information on the province. The rooms routinely features different exhibits on the province. They also have a cafe with a spectacular view of the narrows which is second to none ! https://www.therooms.ca/visit-us
