Oh so very close and they have wonderful pastries, both sweet and savory, and coffee. They also offer some lunch items.

Great food and especially good fish. (We do live in the desert so having a restaurant that serves wonderful fish and seafood is a big plus in my book.)

Arts & Culture

Learn about the Harvey House, the Harvey Girls and railroading in NM. This Harvey House is said to be haunted and has more details than most: uniforms, menus, place settings and other memorabilia. This museum gives one a nice taste of what it was like to travel in the late 19th and early 20th century. This particular stop was a "reading room" for railroad employees and a stop for travelers to get a quick bite. "Harvey Girls" served the train passengers working six days a week and lived on site. In addition to the lunch counter, dining room, and kitchen on the first floor, which are filled with lots of artifacts and information, you can also tour the second floor where the girls slept.

https://www.nps.gov/sapu/learn/historyculture/quarai.htm Each fall in September: annual free concert at Quarai opens the twenty-sixth season of de Profundis concerts. Quarai is a unique space - a 17th century Spanish mission church, abandoned in the 1670s - part of the Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument. The top part of the church is open, and yet the acoustics in the stone walls are wonderful. Bring a folding chair or blanket - even arrive early with your picnic lunch - and make sure to make time before or after the concert to tour the grounds of Quarai. And don't forget your water, head cover, and sunscreen! September 15, 2019 3:00 pm Quarai Mission Ruins of the Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument Mountainair, NM FREE
