POST-FIRES, Kaanapali area hotels and condos have been offering temporary housing to the fire victims. While some of it may be reopened, it is mostly to support the evacuees staying there.
A beautiful beach, lined by upscale resorts and shopping, a great place to catch a sunset catamaran cruise or a private boat ride. Most of parking require payment, but you can get validation from respective hotel restaurant or by spending a certain amount at Whalers Village shopping and dining center depending on where you park and dine. Our favorite here is the Westin beachside dining, but there are so many other options like Monkeypod, Hula Grill, etc. Rocking happy hours everywhere to cap a day at the beach. Don't miss watching people jump off Black Rock at the end of the beach, or try it yourself.

Popular restaurants are hard to get into, but options abound
Mama's Fish House, Merriman's and other similar hot spots are now booked months in advance. Plan accordingly, however, there are so many great places to eat that you will always find something delightful. A budget-friendly tip: many restaurants offer Happy Hour menu around 3-5 pm with some of their most popular dishes and drinks. You will also have higher chances of getting in on a whim if you are open to sitting at the bar.

Wildfire Aftermath
The wildfires that devastated Lahaina left lasting scars on the entire Maui community. Many people lost loved ones, their homes and their jobs. While tourists are welcomed back to West Maui starting October 8, 2023 to help support the local economy, the long healing and recovery process is still ahead and visitors' support and respect in this process are very important.
