Set at the gateway to the Isle of Purbeck, in the picturesque Dorset countryside, The Kings Arms is an historic village inn steeped in character and warmth. An inn has stood at this site for the last 400 years, and there is no sign of this tradition changing anytime soon. The building itself was once used as a butchers, and you can still spy the old hooks hanging below the canopy. Today, the inn serves pub food in a different style, with a tempting mix of modern and traditional dishes created by our experienced kitchen team. The Kings Arms in Stoborough is a dog friendly (we love your doggy companions), family inn, which draws locals and visitors from all over with its mix of contemporary

Corfe Castle village is overlooked by the outstanding ruins of its Castle of the same name, perched on a hill between the Purbeck Ridge. The Village is easily accessible by public transport and has a Swanage Railway Station. Being one of the most popular locations to visit in this corner of Dorset, we recommend using public transport or parking at Norden Car Park. You can then catch the train into the Village or it is a 20 minutes pleasant walk. Bikes can also be hired at Norden Car Park from Cyclexperience.

This charming hamlet is quiet and unspoilt, set back from a beautiful bay on the breath-taking Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Picture-box Purbeck stone and thatch cottages line the road, at the top end of which you can find the welcoming Clavell’s Restaurant which is open year round, offering delicious, locally-sourced food. The Museum of Jurassic Marine Life is a new immersive, indoor attraction located opposite Clavell's Restaurant, and is home to all kinds of interesting fossils found in the local area by collector Dr. Steve Etches MBE. The Bay is famous for its fossil finds which regularly fall from the unstable rock face and you can join Dr. Etches on a tour of the bay to view the fossils in situ. The cliffs are very unstable, so please do not search for fossils on or near them. Fossil hammers are not allowed. Kimmeridge Bay lies within the Purbeck Coast Marine Conservation Zone and has been recognised because of its exceptional marine life.

Sightseeing

Our exhibitions tell the story of armoured warfare from World War One to the present day. As you explore the Museum's six large halls you will come face to face with vehicles that have seen action in all the major wars of the 20th Century and hear first-hand accounts from those who fought in them. This unique collection of over 300 vehicles is regarded as the best in the world and includes the world's first ever tank - Little Willie, the feared German Tiger tank and the modern Challenger 2.
