"Kingston City Hall on the waterfront is a beautiful building – and you can go inside to do a self-guided tour. Around the back away from the water – is a large open-air square called Springer Market Square. In the summer, there are farmers/flea markets. In the winter, the square gets an ice skating rink. "

"If you fancy another boat ride you can take the Wolfe Island ferry to Wolfe Island. This island is a great summertime destination for beach seekers, and those looking to explore another part of the massive waterway. It’s actually super close to the American border – and you can take another ferry to go to the USA from the island if you want. The Wolfe Island ferry is free to get on and the crossing takes about 20 minutes! A popular thing to do is to rent a bike in Kingston and then take the ferry across to the island. You’ll end up in Marysville – a small town with a general store and a few waterfront places for a great pub lunch or a drink! Take your bike to explore the island, enjoy the day at the beach (Big Sandy Bay), and then catch the last ferry home. Here is the ferry schedule for you to check out. This is the site of the first mill built on the Rideau, the King’s Mill, built here at Cataraqui Falls in 1784. The site today features a lovely set of three locks, a turning basin, a detached upper lock and the Robert Anglin Visitor’s Centre. The main CN rail line crosses over the lower locks on a bridge originally built for the Grand Trunk Railroad in 1853 (originally a wooden bridge, the current steel bridge dates to 1929). One of the four blockhouses on the Rideau is located here. The falls, first used to power mills, still generate power today, a small hydro-electric station was built here in 1913.

"A great way to experience Kingston waterfront and marvel at its historical landmarks like Fort Henry, Wolfe Islander Ferry will give you a new insight on the city. The ferry serves as a vital life-line to the Island's community. It also services the many thousands of people visiting Wolfe Island and coming from the States in to Canada. A free ferry, this vessel is an integral part of Kingston trade and commerce and now even its touristic route. The ferry drops visitors off to a small island where you can have a leisurely walk and lunch away from the city."
