Henricus Historical Park re-creates this historical journey and highlights the major benchmarks that took place here over 400 years ago – the charter of the first English college in the New World, the first hospital in English North America, Pocahontas’s conversion to the Anglican faith, and the establishment of tobacco as the first cash crop. Historical interpretation pays tribute to the men and women who desperately struggled to establish a foothold in what was then England’s western frontier, as well as the Virginia Indians who encountered them.

Presquile National Wildlife Refuge in the U.S. state of Virginia is one of four refuges that comprise the Eastern Virginia Rivers National Wildlife Refuge Complex. The refuge is a 1,329-acre island in the James River, located approximately 20 miles south of Richmond.

This 176-acre park features several athletic facilities and a diverse natural area. Athletic and picnic areas are concentrated in the upper areas of the park, and access to the lower areas is provided by a system of trails including a floating boardwalk through a freshwater tidal marsh. This area also has historical significance, as the land was the southern end of the Union position during the Bermuda Hundred Campaign. Remnants of Union earthworks can be seen along the park road and trails.
