Neighborhoods

Head to Main Street in Downtown Porterville (20 minute drive) for great coffee & baked goods. Try world-famous Stafford's Chocolates including their coffee bar and delicious scones. Right around the corner, try the specialty drinks and cupcakes at the Mud House. Our favorite restaurant, the Vault, has something for everyone, including wonderful burgers, sandwiches, create-your-own salads and beer. The brisket tacos are amazing, but are only offered on Tuesdays and Fridays. (check ahead to be sure) Trust us and order them with a side of BBQ sauce! There is also some great Italian on main street. Don Vinos has very nice ambience and an extensive menu. Poor Richard’s Pizza has been voted the best pizza in Porterville and now has a second location in Springville. If you are looking for Asian food, we recommend Tokyo Bowl (quick bite or take-out), Nanlangka (Teppanyaki & Sushi -same owners, just a bit fancier) and Thai Kitchen. The corner of Henderson and Prospect has several fast food spots : the Habit, Chipotle, West Coast, Sourdough, Blaze, and Hawaiian BBQ, with Panera, right down the street.

City/town information

We are about 15-20 minutes from the heart of this small farming community. With only 2 off ramps of the 65, you won't find it difficult to find the basics. Our closest grocery store is Aldi, right next to Arco, Home Depot, Lowe's and Starbucks. Off Henderson, you will find Target, Walmart and Kohl's, as well as Food 4 Less and SaveMart for groceries.

This is the last town (15 min drive) before you get into the Sierra Nevada mountains and home to the Springville Rodeo. If you blink on the way through, you might miss it! Saturday mornings are our favorite time to visit where you can walk the entire main street to catch the mini farmer's market, visit the Station (vintage goods & antiques), and enjoy an amazing breakfast at Cowpuncher's Cafe. We love the breakfast burritos with sausage gravy added. Across the street is Poor Richard's Pizza - a well-loved Porterville restaurant that recently opened in Springville. You can't go wrong ordering a soft-serve shake at the Hamburger Stand along with the Ranch Burger (my favorites since childhood!) Wild Oak Coffee House is open for breakfast and lunch and make delicious, custom flavors of ice cream. The small park provides room to run for little ones and is a popular spot on Friday nights where they host free concerts throughout the summer.

Recommended: Hiking Boots & Water Shoes/Sandals

If you plan on hiking, bring footwear that can handle mud in the fall, winter and spring. In the summer, if you plan on adventuring in the river, consider water shoes.

Please be mindful we live in the country.

We do not have pristine patios and manicured lawns... We have dust, rocky terrain, bugs, snakes, mosquitos and the most gorgeous views!!
