Avenida Paseo, with large trees on both sides and a wide promenade with topiary and benches, is one of Havana’s most classy streets. There are luxurious mansions on both sides of the street, including Villa Lita (Museo-Biblioteca Servando Cabrera Moreno) and the former residences of Juan Pedro Baró and Catalina Laso (they were the stars of the outrageous love story that shook the Cuban society in the early twentieth century, when there was still no divorce law in Cuba, now “Casa de la Amistad”, and the former house of Pablo González de Mendoza now “Casa del Diplomático”
