The Zaan Region is very close by and only 15 minutes by car. There are plenty of parking options in the Zaan Region also. If you prefer, you can take a bus from right outside our hostel. The bus is direct and will take approximately 50 minutes.

The World of Mills
The Zaanse Schans is world famous for its windmills. Rightfully so, because this is where the industrial revolution started. The wind helped the Dutch to make wanted products. People lived, worked and shipped things on the water; it was a busy city in the early nineteenth century. A unique Dutch landscape in the world.

A Wealth of Museums
Most visitors go to the Zaanse Museum but do also step into the world of cacao in the Cacao Museum. Visit the windmills, such as De Bonte Hen and let yourself be astonished by the innovative architecture of the windmills in the Molenmuseum (Koog aan de Zaan). A wooden shoe workshop, cheese-making farm, a bakery, and so many more museums, large and small, are located at Zaanse Schans.

Cycling and Sailing through the Zaan Region
The quickest and most efficient form of transport to see the Zaan region is by bike. You can rent a bike from our hotel and visit the world of mills along the majestic Zaan River. Ask us on arrival for map of the area.
Set sail and get the best views of the Zaanse Schans by joining ‘Classic Cruises’ and climbing aboard their luxurious longboat for cruises up the River Zaan.
