Shopping

El Corte Inglés takes its name from a small tailor's shop founded in 1890 and located between Madrid's Preciados, Carmen and Rompelanzas Streets. In 1935, Mr. Ramón Areces Rodríguez, backed by his uncle César Rodríguez, bought the tailor's shop, and this was the start of his entrepreneurial adventure. It is now a large department store known for its range of Spanish and International clothes.

Drinks & Nightlife

For one of the best views of the city, be sure to stop here and have a drink and Tapas on the terrace. The view of Barcelona is impressive and will leave you breathless. But it doesn't end there, because Mirablau is not just a viewpoint but a restaurant and bar/nightclub open from 11:00am - 2:00am. Getting there: - Take the FGC train from Muntaner to Gracia (S1, S2) - Change in Gracia for Tibidabo (L7) - When you arrive at Tibidabo station there are buses or a historical blue tram to take you to the top of the mountain and to the bar. However, It is a lovely 30min walk up the mountain which I'd recommend!

Sightseeing

'Send Gaudí and the Sagrada Família to hell,' wrote Picasso. While it is easy to see how some of the religious clichés of the building and the devotional fervour of its creator might annoy an angry young Cubist, Barcelona's iconic temple still manages to inspire delight in equal measure. Gaudí dedicated more than 40 years (the last 14 of them exclusively) to the project, and is buried beneath the nave. Many consider the crypt and the Nativity façade, which were completed in his lifetime, as the most beautiful elements of the church. The latter, facing C/Marina, looks at first glance as though some careless giant has poured candle wax over a Gothic cathedral, but closer inspection shows every protuberance to be an intricate sculpture of flora, fauna or human figure, combining to form an astonishingly moving stone tapestry depicting scenes from Christ's early years. An admission ticket is a little expensive (Approximately 16€ per person). It gives visitors access to church and the museum in the basement, with displays on the history of the construction, original models for sculptural work and the chance to watch sculptors working at plaster-cast models through a large window. However, once you are inside, if you wish to go to the top of one of the towers you will need to pay again for the lift.

Parks & Nature

A very short walk from the apartment. There is a lovely open-air cafe in the centre of the park where you can stop for a coffee, cake or fresh juice.
