The Little Wyte House

Established in 1879, located on the Idaho/Wyoming state line, sits the historic town of Freedom, WY. With a population of just over 200, Freedom is rich in history as early settlers in the west made Freedom their home and remains the oldest settlement in the Star Valley. With the serene Salt River running through it, Freedom is known for its beauty, captivating views of the Tetons, and miles of open space. Today some of the old buildings still stand, including the Post Office, Garage and Billiards Hall, all built in 1889. Freedom is also the home of Freedom Arms, a gun factory and maker of a .454 Casull handgun.
With its close proximity to Jackson, Freedom offers a quiet place to live, explore, as well as offers a wide variety of summer and winter activities – all close by. Activities include horseback riding, fishing, rafting, snowmobiling, hiking and biking as well as access to the many amenities and activities offered in Jackson Hole.
