Our family has been enjoying the Tallahassee museum for 16 years and it's always fun. They also now have tree to tree adventure courses with ziplines. Sure to please the entire family.
If you want to get out without having to get in the car, you're in the right spot! Just head out the door and turn left, cross San Luis Road and enter any of the walking trails. There is a trail map if you cross into the park at the sidewalk entrance and continue down the path. San Luis has a nice size lake where you can view several species of birds and always lots of turtles. There are rumored to be some beavers and foxes living in the area as well. Please leave no trace and pick up your trash.

1313 San Luis RdIf you want to get out without having to get in the car, you're in the right spot! Just head out the door and turn left, cross San Luis Road and enter any of the walking trails. There is a trail map if you cross into the park at the sidewalk entrance and continue down the path. San Luis has a nice size lake where you can view several species of birds and always lots of turtles. There are rumored to be some beavers and foxes living in the area as well. Please leave no trace and pick up your trash.
If you want a great view of the city and you want to stay inside, head over to the Capitol building. The Old capitol building is a museum and has lots of history and things to see. The new capitol building, is 22 stories tall and you can go all the way to the top for a 360° view of the entire city.

The new capitol building, is 22 stories tall and you can go all the way to the top for a 360° view of the entire city.
St. Mark's is one of the most beautiful places around Tallahassee. It's also a great place to go during a pandemic. You could just drive through slowly, following the road all the way down to the lighthouse and see so many amazing bits of nature from your vehicle. You're almost guaranteed to see alligators, lots of different birds, (maybe even a bald eagle), deer, and depending on the time of day, bats! If you are lucky enough to be visiting in the fall and winter months you might catch a glimpse of the only wild flamingo in Florida! (If you're interested look up the story of Pinky, the flamingo). It's usually not crowded and parking at the lighthouse and exploring the waterfront is always fun. You are likely to see dolphins and many Brown pelicans here. This is by far the best place to view the sunset.

Car, bus, scooter
Cars are the easiest way around. The city bus does have a few stops very close to our neighborhood if you're planning on taking the bus. There are also plenty of Uber and Lyft drivers in Tallahassee. Once you are downtown or near collegetown, there are also scooters to rent.

Open from 9AM until 2PM every Saturday from March through November. The downtown market offers local music, food, art, and fun.
