This vibrant cliff and beach walk from Clachtoll to Store is a gentle stroll which takes about an hour. The beach is a gem, unspoilt white sands. Great views out to sea and if you time it right, magical sunsets.

Stunning white sands and clear blue waters of achmelvich beach ensure this is one of the most popular in Assynt. The sand is mostly made up of crushed shells which gives it the white colour. There is a second quieter beach Vesty’s just north of the main beach - you can walk over the headland between the two. There is a public car park and toilets at Achmelvich

This is a lovely woodland area on the north west side of Lochinver town. Access is by one of two carparks or a gate opposite the primary school. It isn't a particularly large wood but we spent a good 90 minutes walking along the well defined paths and visiting the viewpoint and pebble beach. Part of the attraction is the varied landscape within the woodland area with small hills, rocky outcrops and little streams. The trees are mixed deciduous and conifer and are well established with an extensive variety of mosses and other plant life growing around and up the trees. It is a very engaging place and ideal for a shortish walk.

This is one of the best scenic walks in Scotland culminating in the Corrishalloch falls. It is free but the parking is limited and you can’t park on the main road. There are several vantage points and a viewing platform which help you to see the falls at their best. Worth a visit.

The Lael Tree Garden is right off the main road near Ullapool and contains over 200 different trees with sign postings to identify the tree and origin. Some of the trees are quite massive while others struggle to find sunlight and grow. There are trees from all over the world planted here. At the north car park there is a viewing spot for a slightly hidden waterfall.
