Half an hour walk or one stop on the tube - The look of this family-run restaurant and bar in Queen's Park is certainly part of its appeal - think reclaimed sanded floorboards from a school in Norfolk, old church pews and a bar made from an oak tree felled in the storm of '87. Al fresco tables and chairs spill out onto the cobbled mews come summertime, too. Dishes range from pasta, burgers, fish stews and all day brunches to whole tiger prawns seared with olive oil, garlic and peppers, stuffed butternut squash with garlic, leeks, mushrooms and goat's cheese, beef and ale pies and lamb shanks served with rosemary mash, cabbage and a red wine jus. Keep an eye out for daily specials, too.
