City/town information
The cottage is 20 miles from the Canadian border crossing and there is a really cute town on the Canadian side. It’s no lie that we can see Canada for my backyard :-)

Dog Friendly Park
Our guests tell us that this is a dog, friendly area and quiet. It’s located about half an hour from our property.

Need a car
There is no public transport and Uber/Lyft in the area. Unless you plan to stay put (not a bad idea in itself), you need a car.

Swim suits, dress in layers as the weather changes a lot
It snows a lot in the winter - bring warm and comfortable shoes/boots and winter wear for the outside.

What kitchen utensils are there?
We have pots and pans, standard coffee maker, a Keurig with reusable pods so you can use your own coffee, French press for coffee, ice tray, toaster oven, coffee filters, electric kettle, blender, silverware, dish cleaning supplies, dishwasher and cleaning tablets, wine and beer opener.
We also stock some teas, and some spices and oil - but of course you are welcome to use your own.

Where should I do groceries?
There are many big box stores in the Fort Gratiot area like Meijers, Target, Home Depot, TJ Maxx etc. Fort Gratiot is about 15 miles south of the cottage on M-25. There is also a smaller grocery store in Lexington just 1 mile north of the cottage on M-25 called Jeff's marketplace . Jeff's has beer and wine as well.

How do I turn on the fireplace/stove ?
There is a gas stove/fireplace - the pilot is on, and you would need to turn it counterclockwise to increase the heat in the fireplace when you get there.
Just be careful decreasing the heat there - don’t push it beyond the pilot mark. If you do, it will turn off and the pilot is a little of a pain to turn back on. It is really nice to have the fireplace on and don’t want you to miss out on that.
Considering that it is cold in winter you will probably not turn it down very low anyway to turn it off.
There is a note next to the fireplace that explains it too.

Are there pots and pans
Yes!
We have a coffee maker, tea kettle, French press, toaster, microwave, and pots and pans, can opener, wine and beer opener, silverware, and cooking utensils.
There is also a dishwasher and dishwasher tablets and dish cleaning soap.
