If you can get past the hipster scene and expensive food here, you’ll treat yourself to the best cured and smoked fish (herbed lox and white fish) and meats (prosciutto, panchetta, etc..) in Venice... along with their delicious bread (sourdough, sliced), pastries (tahini croissant!), coffees, pizza bread, salads (check in counter) and all their main dishes. An often unknown dinner option exists here, too, with a smaller menu but slightly better value!

1001 Venice Blvd.Closest cafe to our studio. Walkable in 5 minutes. Hipster, motorcycle loving, beachy vibe—coffee is good here too! Light food options, nothing to write home about. Nice back patio to sit in with an attached Deus clothing store. Recently at a construction site on Venice and Lincoln, there’s been a rowdy crew of a few homeless guys that you might have to walk by.
Although this a Midwest company, it’s definitely one of the best ice cream shops in Venice (others are Salt n Straw on Abbot Kinney and Wanderlust on Lincoln) and less than 10 minutes by car from our studio. Get the Salted peanut butter with chocolate flakes, brown butter almond brittle (I get by the pint!), darkest chocolate or the Brambleberry Crisp. Can't go wrong here!

Kind of like an upgraded In N Out complete with a Beyond Burger option, very reasonably priced for hipster Rose Avenue neighborhood. Everyone loves this place... I find it sometimes too salty for my taste. Much better for lunch than dinner in my opinion, but you can't have a list of quintessential Venice eateries without Gjelina and Chef Travis Lett on the list! Pizzas are amazing.

We've had several vegans and vegetarians tell us that they chose our studio's proximity to this restaurant as the main reason for staying with us! I think it's got a fun and interesting menu, but maybe I just haven't chosen the right items yet. Definitely solid, but maybe not much to write home about? I prefer Plant, Food + Wine (Abbot Kinney), Gracias Madre (in W. Hollywood), Cafe Gratitude (Rose in Venice), Crossroads Kitchen (Melrose), True Food Kitchen (in SM Place) for vegan!

The lunch special is a great deal. There are no rolls here--you have to just go with the Chef's Choice and you won't be disappointed! Or get a double lunch special!

Its crispy beef tacos, filling all meat burritos, luscious cheese enchiladas, best refried beans and mysteriously addictive red salsa and chips makes this our westside taco institution. People will say it's not traditional Mexican tacos, but who cares when it's this good! Always a line, impossible to order and deliver. Go at an off hour like at 10am when it opens. Check for hours!
