Don't Miss
There's so much to do in and around Annapolis that recommending "don't miss" experiences/ places is a hard decision. Below I've listed some of my personal favorites but if you're new to Annapolis I'd strongly suggest you start with a visit to the Annapolis Visitor's Center at 26 West Street, just 2 miles from Calico Cottage Guest House. Also check out Historic Annapolis's Musuem Store. There you can sign up for one of HA's walking tours of the historic district which are really fun.
The heart of the historic district. Here you'll find the Annapolis marketplace, restaurants, pubs, shops, and "Ego Alley" the dock area where sailboats and powerboats large and small tie up to visit downtown.
City dock's a 2.4 mile drive from Calico Cottage Guest House. There's a large parking area adjacent to the city dock area and at the Hillman municipal garage which is located off Main Street within close walking distance to the dock area.

George Washington resigned his commission as commander-in-chief of the Continental Army in 1783 at the state house. There is a well done and fascinating exhibit in the actual room where Washington gave his famous resignation speech which has been restored to appear as it did in 1783.

Where To Eat Steamed Crabs
Always a consideration when you're in the blue crab capital of the world! Actually there aren't a ton of places to do this but here's where I'd steer you (and I do love me some crabbies!)
This is a bit of a drive (about 20 minutes) up Route 2 but the ambience of the place is worth the effort. You'll sit right on Mill Creek. Always crowded. If possible go during mid afternoon. A kind of "up scale" crab house.

If you're really up for an authentic Maryland crab pickin' experience, drive over to the 'shore and visit Harris Crab House on Kent Island. If you've never been over the Bay Bridge it's a memorable experience. Five miles of high-in-the-sky views up and down the Bay. Harris' is 19 miles from Calico Cottage Guest House--but you'll be glad you went.
