The local know-how to find food. ;)
Must try local eateries, the Satay Celup. Satay celup or 'steamboat satay' is a dish where raw or semi-cooked meat and vegetables on skewers are dipped into a hot pot of thick, spicy peanut sauce.

Cendol = iced sweet dessert that contains droplets of green rice flour jelly, coconut milk and palm sugar syrup. (additional combo/toppings available with ice-cream, condensed milk, durian etc) Great for chilling after a long day walk. The store owner is our neighbour too. ;)

Very close to us, less than 20m, across the road, try this local soya bean dessert, the local calls it "tau fu fah". "Tau fu" = soya / soya bean "fah" = pudding It's has a soft pudding-like texture, there are options for sugar syrup or ginger syrup depending on your preferences. They sell cincau (Grass jelly drink) cold drinks too, great for hot weather.
