I love this beach park! This is a very quick drive from European Village, has plenty of parking, and provides quick access to the beach. It also has a water spigot to rinse sand off, which is always nice!

Really nice hiking or biking trail. You can walk a relaxed in-and-back 2.5miles, or explore the 5.5miles of mountain bike trails. We hiked the bike trail, but use caution.

This is a quick opportunity for taking in a little regional history. There’s a little bit of hiking from the parking lot to the old Sugar Mill ruins.

Start at the visitors center; there’s a parking garage there, flat rate of $15 for the day, and it’s worth it, because trying to find parking on the street is not easy! Spend 10 or 15 minutes in the visitor center, grab a map, and then head west through the old city gates to the pedestrian-only St. George St., lots of nice shops and restaurants. Don’t miss the castle either - but check the operating days and times before you go. When we visited on a Monday, we found out it’s only open Wednesday through Sunday.

This is such a cool little museum that reviews the development of the area. Its really fascinating, and doesn't take a ton of time to learn a lot. I recommend this in the summer afternoons, if you're looking for a break from the sun.

This is really lovely state park with a couple short nature trails, beautiful formal garden that melds the nature Florida flora with an English garden concept (don’t miss the rose garden), and a nice, little visitor center and gift shop.

This is a mixed use community that’s set up like a European piazza. There are several nice restaurants and shops on the first level, with condos above. Also, there’s a stage in the courtyard for live music every Friday and Saturday night.

Fabulous food! It’s a fish market, so you can get great fresh fish here, or eat in! Several options let you pick out the type of fish you want from the case. And, they have the best cole slaw, in my opinion ;)

This is a public eatery at the Palm Harbor Golf Course. What a great menu! Great variety on the menu, and great outdoor seating overlooking the golf course. On our last trip, we enjoyed Bloody Mary’s, I had a veggie quinoa hash with avocado, an egg, and a croissant, and John had two eggs, bacon, fried potatoes, fruit, and a baguette. Wonderful!

Great Cajun restaurant! Everything we had was delicious- fried green tomatoes, she crab soup, shrimp etouffée, grouper, red beans & rice, and Oreo beignets were all so good! They don’t take reservations, it’s first come first serve. If there’s a line to get in, don’t be surprised, but don’t be discouraged either- the place is huge and the line moves quick.

Sea Turtle Nesting Season: May 1 - Oct 31

Turtle nesting season officially starts May 1, and runs through October 31. During the season, hundreds of sea turtles will be emerging from the surf to lay eggs on the beach. Its important not to disturb the nests, a nesting adult sea turtle or hatchlings making their way to the ocean.
