Closest beach to the house. Park along the 101 or in the parking lot (paid). Go during low tide and there is TONS of space to walk. P.S. you can bring your dog on this beach (south of the bridge only) but must be on a leash.

Food scene
Stone is the king of San Diego microbrews. Their World Bistro and Gardens is beautiful (sit outside!) and has great farm to table food (they have their own gardens) and the most insane beer list. One of my faves. Only about 15-20 min from our house.

One of my favorites not only form the food and drink, but also location. Right on the beach in Cardiff by the Sea. Go for a walk in the beach after or head to Kraken across the street for a good dive bar experience.
