Gorgeous Food, Great Service,
This is a family restaurant so young and old are welcome. The children will get some dough and sweets on arrival, which they can then bake in the pizza oven. This is however not a Wimpy or Spur styled restaurant and the enjoyment of other patrons should be kept in consideration. TRADING HOURS: Mon to Sat: 12pm - 9pm Sunday: 12pm - 7pm

Marloth offers various day trails, ranging from easy, short walks to more strenuous, longer hikes. These trails lead into the shady green indigenous forest, where cool pools and waterfalls wait to be discovered. Day walks are open from sunrise to sunset. Avid birders should be on the lookout for the reserve’s 114 species, including the African fish eagle, black eagle, wood owl, red-winged francolin, tambourine dove, four different species of woodpecker, and the Cape vulture. Marloth has great routes for mountain bikers to explore, varying from easy to advanced trails. The routes are limited to the plantation gravel roads. For more details visit the reserve office.

This golf course was designed and built by Ken Elkin just after World War Two and is rated as one of the top nine hole golf courses in the country. Swellendam's par 72 golf course is nestled at the foot of the magnificent Langeberg mountains, with views overlooking the town, surrounding farms and the Hermitage Valley. There is a good variety of difficulty, which offers a true test for all levels of golfers. Open to the public 7 days a week, this club welcomes visitors local and abroad. The clubhouse is manned daily from 07h30am to 7pm, except on Sundays when the club’s opening hours are shorter. The best time to play in summer is early morning or late afternoon, and Swellendam’s mild winter climate makes play possible all year round. With permanent irrigation and proper tending, it has become a jewel in the Western Cape with bent grass greens. Come and enjoy our unforgettable hospitality. We have low green fees, great accommodation and lots of other activities for the rest of the family. TRADING HOURS: Mon to Sat: 7:30am - 7pm Sunday: 8am - 4pm

City/town information

Barrydale is a village located on the border of the Overberg and Klein Karoo regions of the Western Cape Province in South Africa. There are well over a dozen Barrydale restaurants and coffee shops – a huge number for such a small village. We reccomend Diesel & Crème is a Vintage Diner & Motel (The Karoo Moon Motel), situated on the scenic Route 62 in Barrydale - it's amazing! From the outside Barrydale’s Karoo Art Hotel looks a little faded, but step inside and the quirkiness of bright walls from lime green to oxblood red, the idiosyncratic collection of paintings and objects d’art start to work their magic. If you enjoy browsing and buying arts and crafts, you’ll love mooching around Barrydale. Visit Barrydale Hand Weavers on the Ladismith side of town – a skills and job creation project – to marvel at the hand-woven rugs, tableware and fabrics and maybe even watch the looms in action. Next door is MUD Gallery where you’ll find a super space built of local materials, with a collection of paintings, sculpture and ceramics inside. Relax in the garden and enjoy something to eat. Hardy’s Memories has a selection of art and crafts from all over Africa.
