Sightseeing

A great day out for all the family, an amazing insight into Scotland's past coupled with fantastic views over Edinburgh and the surrounding area. In the castle you will find "Mons Meg" this siege cannon can shoot a 330 pound stone almost 2 miles - now days it just gets fired to tell us its 1 o'clock everyday. You will also find Scotland's Crown Jewels and be amazed by the architecture of the castle that has been built on top of a dormant volcano. You will not be disappointed with the castle and all it has to offer.

Joe Crolla, together with his father and son team, Giuseppe and Adriano Amato who are the manager and chef are proud to have chosen Musselburgh as the home of thier first restaurant together. Musselburgh has long standing ties with Italy the town being born from the original Roman settlement around AD 85, there are still many Roman remnants in the area not least Musselburgh's most iconic landmark the Roman Bridge just round the corner from the restaurant. More recently Musselburgh has been twinned with Rosignano Marittimo and has been home to many Italian families - the Lucas, the Di-Rollos, the Crollas, to name a few. Crollas family originate from a village south of Rome just outside the town of Atina which itself was originally settled by the Romans and is situated in the heart of the old Roman Empire. With thier passion for food and wine they aim to bring a taste of the home town and province to Musselburgh. It looks like the Romans are back!!

Like our ice cream, our history combines the best of Scotland with the best of Italy. It all began in the 1890s, when Luca Scappaticcio set out from his home in Cassino, Italy destined for a life in Scotland. His passion for cooking secured him a position in the kitchens of one of Scotland’s more prominent hotels. It was here that he learned the art of creating luxury ice cream. By combining this with the knowledge of flavour and texture that he brought with him from Italy, he was able to create a truly unique ice cream. In 1908, he and his wife Anastasia opened the first S. Luca ice cream parlour in the seaside town of Musselburgh on the east coast of Scotland. He wisely chose to name the ice cream parlour S. Luca and not L. Scappaticcio so as not to tongue-tie his customers. Whilst production and storage techniques have changed, our ice cream recipe has largely remained unchanged. In addition, our ice cream is still produced in the same factory as it was in Luca Scappaticcio's day.

The best seafood restaurant in the area, they also do a great steak so there is something for everyone. When the opportunity for us to expand our beloved Coral Reef Fish & Chip shop into what you now see as East Coast, it was one we simply couldn’t turn down. Our passion is seafood and service and you’ll find the best of both if you pay us a visit. In addition to a great takeaway, we now have our exciting restaurant space which allows us to play with even more great ingredients, flavours and ideas. Seafood classics and Mediterranean treats will be on the menu, along with some delicious cuts of meat and of course those famous Musselburgh Mussels. So whether you want to enjoy our fresh Rock Oysters, Puglian Burrata, an East Coast Fish & Chips or even a succulent Fillet Steak, you’ll find something delicious here. Explore the menus below and hopefully we’ll be seeing you soon!
